Beach Trip
This weekend we met up with my parents, sister and her husband at the beach. We had a great house directly on the beach. However, Matt got to spend the whole trip either inside on the couch or on the back porch but the trip really lifted his spirits. Of course we all really enjoyed seeing Lena's reaction to everything and she got ALL the attention.

Matt's Progress
Today we went for Matt's first post-op doctor's appointment. The splint was removed and he got staples out. They also did another x-ray and everything (bones and metal plate/screws) was where it was suppose to be. We had originally been told he would have a cast placed today but the doctor gave him the choice of having a cast or a walking boot. The doctor said that he would let Matt have the boot because he is following instructions about activity restrictions. He still isn't allowed to put ANY weight at all on his leg but at least now he can take the boot off to take a bath. (and he won't have to deal with all the itching associated with a cast) We have another appointment scheduled in 4 weeks when we will schedule his next surgery and find out if he can start to put some weight on his leg. Overall Matt is doing much better, but still a long way to go.

Those are some awesome beach photos!! Love the black-n-white one!
Yucky staples. Mike had told me Matt's toes were blue-green and I asked him if it was the surgical scrub. He said no. Guess he's smart enough to fly a mulit-million dollar aircraft, but can't tell surgical scrub when he sees it. I think I'll keep him anyway though. :)
