Working Hard

I talked to Matt Sunday afternoon. It was Midnight for him.... He had just gotten back from flying and was heading to bed. Matt said he is starting to get more work now. He was glad to have some things to do instead of picking up odd jobs to help other people. For those who want to know...there really isn't anything that he needs to be sent to him. The facilities are great and the PX has a wide variety of things. He has asked me for few items, but nothing that I have to send on a regular basis. Matt sends his love to everyone and appreciates the letters he has received.

I also want to send my love to everyone and thank you all again for your support. I have fully made my way back into the swing of things with working full time, but I'm still missing my hubby. In just 4 months I'll have even more to do...Baby Lena will be here before we know it!!

Matt

Oops...it's been over a week since I have updated on Matt... but, I have bronchitis. I hardly even wrote Matt any decent emails last week... Anyway, Matt is still doing good. He has flown about 3 times now. Not as much flying as last time, but better than none. He has been doing a little exploring around the 'camp' during his spare time, but nothing exciting to report. He continues to email and call on a regular basis. I just hate not being able to call him. So instead of calling him I just write him about 3 emails everyday. I told Matt that since I can't call him I'll just have to write anytime something comes up so I don't forget to tell him later. He doesn't seem to mind :)

1 month down, 11 to go...

Email From Matthew

Just thought that I would 'cut and paste' some of the email i got from Matt today so you can all hear how things are from Matt's perspective.....

"Today has been a pretty good day. I got both packages today and a letter. Thanks for the Hot Tamales!!! I'll have to lock them up in my desk. The pictures and frames are great; I bought a couple wood frames the other day, so now I have some on my desk and some in the hooch. Also saw a friend who was class of '99 from West Point today. Starting to get in some kind of groove here. The hooch just continues to get better. I bought a sheet set that fits my mattress (think it is a twin size) and now with my green girl, I'll be sleeping nice. Got the package with the Amazing Race Season 1 yesterday, one day after finishing Lost, so the timing works out perfect! I can reduce this deployment to nothing but watching old TV shows!"

Update From The Sandbox

Matt continues to call and email on a regular basis. He hasn't been able to call as much recently due to the huge phone lines. One day he said the wait was 1hr or more. Neddless to say he decided to get on the internet instead.(this line was much shorter...) Matt and Will are making progress on turning the living quarter into 'home sweet home'. They bought some 6x9 carpets to cover the floor, and have arranged to buy a mini fridge. I'm just glad that I'm not the one who has to clean the place...I'll have to find out how much sand actually makes it into their room... Just as before, sometimes Matt is busy and sometimes he's not. Overall, he is doing well.
